Follow us on Google NewsThailand is aiming to sever local access to cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, citing violations from the country’s securities regulator on running an unlicensed digital asset business.
The Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday announced Bitget’s website, its domains, and its application will be inaccessible in Thailand starting Dec. 5, 2026, providing users with about a month to prepare.
Bitget Faces Criminal Complaint Over Thai Crypto ServicesThe Thailand Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has lodged a criminal complaint against the company behind Bitget.com, BG Limited. The regulator found that between 2022 and 2025, Bitget provided digital asset trading service to users in Thailand, took trading fees, and had a website in Thai language that quoted crypto prices in Thai baht.
The SEC also highlighted that Thai-language marketing was done on social media platforms such as X, Telegram, and TikTok. Such activities constitute the operation of a digital asset exchange business without the necessary license under the Digital Asset Business Emergency Decree, the regulator added.
Kritsana Kritsananuwat, the SEC alleges, helped promote Bitget through Facebook and YouTube, a second complaint against the individual. The case is being investigated by Thailand’s economic crime groups.

Users Face a Dec. 5 Access DeadlineThe SEC has already sent information covering Bitget’s website, associated domains and mobile app to the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society. After its block, users from Thailand might no longer have access to the platform by regular local internet connections.
In particular, the regulator told the investors to act on their assets on Bitget before the deadline of Dec. 5 to mitigate possible disruption. This warning has nothing to do with the assets being lost or frozen by customers, the SEC said. The contention regards Bitget’s regulatory standing and how consumers can access this platform locally.
Bitget Was Already Seeking a Licensed Route Into ThailandThe action follows Bitget’s reports on the proposed acquisition of GMO-Z.com Cryptonomics (Thailand), a local crypto exchange and brokerage.
On Oct. 20, Bitget revealed its plans for the offer by acquiring an interest in BTGT Management (Thailand). This transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is subject to other closing factors.
That creates a notable regulatory split. As Bitget tries to open up a branch office in Thailand, its SEC says that one of Bitget’s previous platforms previously operated without a licence for Thai users.
The planned purchase does not automatically cure un вет bitget.com via the past or even current functions within the nation: a SEC criminal complaint will continue via investigators, prosecutors and also courts.
The challenge for crypto users from Thailand is a bit easier: Dec. 5 is the day to watch at Bitget.
