Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson is working on some significant communication shifts from X to Discord.

Cardano is facing significant governance reform and ups and downs in the community fragmentation and environmental discussion, the news follows. The idea is straightforward; to provide a platform for a healthy exchange of ideas without the cacophony that often fills social media, says Hoskinson.

Hoskinson Pushes for a Community Move to Discord

On the same occasion, Hoskinson shared a post on X that he is currently working with community member Phillip Pon on plans for a dedicated Cardano Discord server.

Dropping by to let everyone know that I spoke with @phillip_pon and we are working out a plan to create a discord for a great migration of the Cardano community from X. We can have happy, positive, well-moderated channels and leave behind the drama, lies, endless rage, and…

The new platform will feature channels that are moderated to promote positive engagement and to minimize conflict, misinformation, and toxicity in public social media, Hoskinson said.

He said that while he will keep doing livestream broadcasts on X as a trusted platform with over a million followers, he will be moving more of his community engagement to other platforms in the near future.

Future Ask Me Anything (AMA) sessions will only accept questions submitted through the upcoming Cardano Discord and the existing Midnight Discord communities.

Hoskinson made it clear that livestreaming on X should not be interpreted as a return to using the platform as Cardano’s primary discussion venue.

Governance Discussions Move Into Focus

The time is significant as Cardano has now entered a more decentralized era of governance than it’s ever been.

Community members have been more involved in the funding decisions, ecosystem priorities and allocation of treasury resources since the implementation of governance reforms. Those tweaks have also sparked some controversy on social media.

A More Structured Communication Model

Unlike open social platforms, Discord enables projects to split communication to dedicated channels in the development, governance proposal, technical support, ecosystem project and community space.

A well-structured communication process might help streamline the collaboration and avoid confusion between stakeholders in a blockchain ecosystem, where thousands of people are contributing globally.

Mintana’s own Midnight ecosystem is also highly engaged on the Discord platform, and this can serve as a blueprint for the entire Cardano community.

Cardano Community Culture Enters a New Phase

Hoskinson framed the transition as more than a platform change. He said it was a chance to enhance the culture of Cardano and its well-being in the future. It’s clear that more and more of Cardano’s best conversations are going to be happening on Discord in the future
