Follow us on Google NewsCoinbase has added Ripple USD to its main retail and institutional platforms, giving RLUSD one of its biggest distribution upgrades since launch. Customers in supported areas may now trade, manage, deposit and withdraw the stablecoin on Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the Coinbase app.
Coinbase Opens RLUSD Access Across Three Major NetworksWhen it launches, Coinbase will allow transfers between RLUSD, Ethereum and Base, which will give users multiple channels to transfer the stablecoin between their trading and onchain activity. In addition to that, coinbase customers can also swap for U.S. dollars at a 1:1 ratio to RLUSD.
The integration will provide Ripple with Coinbase retail customers and its institutional trading platform, custody and settlement capabilities.
Coinbase Global Exchange support will follow, and with it, will arrive the option to use RLUSD as a “collateral. Ripple will also make Base the platform where liquidity will be provided as a strategy to heighten trading and usage on Coinbase’s own 2.0 platform.

Base Adds Another Route for RLUSD LiquidityA key aspect of the rollout is base support, which helps RLUSD go past Ripple’s native XRP Ledger and Ethereum. Ripple is set to provide liquidity on Base, a measure the company says could help to boost the markets for RLUSD and utility on the stablecoin on-chain.
More attention is also placed on distribution, not emissions, as a result of the greater network coverage. Having access across exchanges, custody, multiple blockchains are as crucial as actual market capitalization in the current stablecoin market.
RLUSD Market Cap Jumps Above $2.6 BillionRLUSD was initiated in December 2024 and has increased in pace in exchanges, payments and the institutional markets. CoinGecko reported a market capitalization of $2.61 billion on October 28, whereas Coinbase reports a market capitalization of ~$2.62 billion for its platform.
U.S. dollars comprise deposits with RLUSD and account for the securities that are U.S. treasuries or other cash-equivalent assets. The stablecoin is intended for application in regulated financial instruments, such as payment, settlement and institutional liquidity.

Coinbase Pushes RLUSD Into Institutional Crypto InfrastructureCoinbase framed the addition as part of growing institutional demand for blockchain-based settlement.
Seven of the 10 biggest U.S. banks have already tested stablecoins or tokenized deposits for settlement, the exchange said, with the other three banks having said they are planning to do so.
RLUSD is now supporting institutions in addition to execution, settlement and custody services across the same Coinbase infrastructure.
The partnership brings the stablecoin into spot trading, prime brokerage, the derivatives market and DeFi, and provides clients with a new dollar-denominated option on an existing institutional platform, Ripple said.
