Follow us on Google NewsRipple is pushing deeper into traditional finance with the launch of its Delta One business under Ripple Prime. The new offering expands the company’s institutional platform into equity derivatives while keeping digital assets at the center of its cross-market strategy.
Ripple Prime Opens Access to Delta One SwapsRipple announced on August 27 that Ripple Prime’s Delta One business is now live, allowing institutional clients to execute Total Return Swaps linked to U.S.-listed equities, market indices, and digital assets.
The service is tailored for hedge funds, asset managers and other finance professionals with varying risk, reporting and investment needs. The TRS allows the clients to have economic exposure to the underlying asset without them actually acquiring or investing in the asset.
Delta One products are designed to closely track movements in their underlying assets. The new service comes in addition to Ripple Prime’s existing services across various markets including FX, derivatives, fixed income, digital assets, clearing, and financing, for institutions trading across multiple markets.
The launch is a sign of increased demand for a more streamlined institutional trading environment, working across asset classes, said Noel Kimmel, president of Ripple Prime.

One Counterparty Across Traditional and Digital MarketsThe one-counterparty nature of the new business is a key characteristic. Ripple Prime clients have numerous services offered and can operate in a single platform instead of managing relationships on equities, foreign exchange, fixed income and crypto.
Clients will also be able to cross-margin exposures across these asset classes round-the-clock, the company added. This may assist institutions to control the management of their collaterals and financing in the traditional and digital market together.
Conflict-Free Execution Model Targets Institutional ClientsRipple Prime is also taking the path of a conflict-free Delta One. The business is not conducted actively in combination with proprietary trading or market making activities.
This is a feature that will be key to Ripple Prime’s offering. Large Delta One desks run side by side with trading businesses that can choose to take market positions. Ripple Prime claims its model is built around providing flow service for clients without such trading activities.
The launch expands Ripple’s presence in the institutional market infrastructure, and extends beyond blockchain-based payments to financial products.
$275 Million Notes Deal Supports Ripple Prime ExpansionAccording to the company, Ripple Prime has a regulatory net capital of over $1 billion.
The expansion comes after the bond offering of $275 million that was privately placed recently and upsized. The funds will be used to support the growth of Ripple Prime as well, and come after another $200 million debt arrangement earlier this year with funds managed by Neuberger Specialty Finance.
The new Delta One operation sees equities join Ripple Prime’s growing multi-asset framework and link up with digital assets, FX, fixed income, derivatives, clearing and financing. In a sandy blend of conventional and crypto finance, Ripple is putting its money where its mouth is, on cross-asset access and ensuring there’s no nighttime wait, as its institutional clients come on board.
