The setup comes shortly after Ripple returned 700 million XRP, worth more than $1 billion, to escrow following its scheduled October token release.
The move has brought fresh attention to both XRP’s available supply and its near-term price structure. XRP price was around $1.49 on October 3, according to historical market data, while recent trading has repeatedly tested the $1.55 area without establishing a sustained breakout.
XRP Price Tests $1.59 ResistanceThe immediate focus for the XRP price is the $1.54-$1.59 region, where several technical analyses identify a concentration of selling pressure.
Xaif Crypto’s four-hour analysis places resistance around $1.54-$1.56, with support between $1.44 and $1.47. The setup suggests that a decisive move above the upper resistance zone could improve the short-term structure, while a failure to hold support would leave XRP vulnerable to another pullback.

Another four-hour chart analysis from TheaG_eii identifies $1.59 as the key level for confirming a potential change in momentum. The analysis highlights the $1.54-$1.59 area as a supply zone and points to $1.39 and $1.29 as lower areas of interest if the price is rejected.
These levels matter because XRP has struggled to maintain momentum after an earlier breakout attempt toward $1.70. Historical data shows that the price reached as high as about $1.65 on September 23 and $1.62 on September 25 before retreating toward the $1.50 area.
A sustained close above $1.59 would therefore represent a more meaningful technical development than a brief intraday move. Until that happens, the market remains caught between resistance overhead and established support below.
Ripple Returns $1B XRP to EscrowThe technical setup coincides with Ripple’s latest scheduled escrow activity.
Ripple unlocked 1 billion XRP on October 1 through four transactions of 400 million, 200 million, 300 million, and 100 million tokens. The company subsequently returned 700 million tokens to escrow through two transactions involving 400 million and 300 million tokens. The returned tokens were worth more than $1.05 billion based on prices at the time.

The transactions are part of Ripple’s established escrow system. The company has released up to 1 billion XRP at the beginning of each month since introducing the mechanism in 2017, with a large portion typically placed back into escrow.
The important distinction is between the gross monthly unlock and the amount that ultimately remains outside escrow. In October, 700 million of the 1 billion tokens released was returned, leaving 300 million tokens from the scheduled release outside the newly created escrow contracts. TheStreet reported that approximately 31.845 billion tokens remained in escrow after the latest activity.

That means the headline figure of $1 billion does not represent a direct injection of the entire amount into circulating supply. Instead, the escrow mechanism allows Ripple to manage the release schedule in a predictable way.
For XRP traders, the event is therefore more relevant as a supply-flow indicator than as an immediate bullish or bearish catalyst. The monthly releases are recurring and widely monitored by the market.
XRP Price Forecast: What $1.59 Could SignalFrom a technical perspective, $1.59 remains the clearest near-term level to watch.
The current XRP price is close to $1.49, leaving roughly 7% between the market and the $1.59 resistance identified in several chart analyses. Recent price action has already shown repeated attempts to move through the $1.55 area, but those advances have not yet produced a confirmed breakout.
Xaif Crypto has outlined a possible move toward $1.75 if the price clears its resistance zone with sufficient momentum. Separately, CarolinaTCWNL has mapped a more gradual path through $1.43, $1.50, $1.58, $1.62, and $1.75 following the earlier rejection near $1.70.

Those projections remain technical scenarios rather than established price targets. For a more constructive XRP price prediction, the market would first need to demonstrate that former resistance has turned into support.
On the downside, the $1.44-$1.47 region remains an important reference area. A sustained move below that zone could weaken the current structure and shift attention toward the lower levels identified by technical analysts.
For now, XRP is approaching a decision point rather than confirming a new trend. A daily or weekly close above $1.59 would provide stronger evidence that buyers have absorbed the supply overhead. Until then, the $1.44-$1.47 support region and $1.54-$1.59 resistance band define the key boundaries for the current setup.
Ripple’s return of $1 billion worth of XRP to escrow also reduces the immediate supply impact of October’s scheduled release, although the remaining 300 million tokens outside the new escrow contracts still represents an addition to the available supply. With XRP trading near $1.49, the market’s next decisive move may depend more on whether buyers can overcome the $1.59 technical barrier than on the escrow transaction itself.
