XRP Soars to $2.5 & Flips USDT as SEC Drops Case, XRP Price Explosion Incoming?

The SEC vs Ripple case concluded on March 19th following the SEC’s decision to drop the case, marking a monumental win for Ripple and XRP. Following the news, XRP immediately jumped from $2.32 to $2.56, and although it hasn’t managed to go higher over the past 24 hours, it stands a chance to soar further over the upcoming weeks.

XRP’s surge in value helped it take the position of the third-largest cryptocurrency, as its market cap exceeded Tether’s (USDT) over the past 24 hours. Besides XRP, other leading tokens are also recording gains today, with the broader market cap at $2.8 trillion following a 2% rise in value.

Yesterday, Ripple celebrated the end of the four-year legal battle that ended with what Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse calls a “long-overdue surrender,” and the end of the “war on crypto.”

As the news of the SEC’s decision to drop the case sent a shockwave through the crypto market, XRP grew by 10.34% in just 24 hours, but it met resistance at the $2.56 level and is now priced at $2.47, representing a 9.7% soar over the past 7 days.

With its current price above its 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) of $2.44, XRP is well positioned for short-term gains. Additionally, the 50-day SMA is above its 200-day SMA of $1.67, forming a Golden Cross pattern that’s often a bullish indicator for further gains.

Technical analyst Gert van Lagen believes XRP is preparing for a parabolic soar to the $38 mark after analyzing its price movement over the past 7 years. However, the analyst calls his target conservative, expecting XRP to jump closer to $60 if the market conditions are perfect.

SebyG, a crypto expert, also believes XRP is ready for a major breakout, but has highlighted that Ripple’s legal victory is a win for the broader crypto market as well, expecting a market-wide rally to occur.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin enthusiast Pierre Rochard expects Bitcoin to take lead in the potential market-wide rally rather than XRP, as he expects BTC to be the currency of choice for banks, just like it is the backbone of the expected crypto strategic reserve announced by President Trump.
