The BNY Mellon latest roadmap for tokenized U.S. Treasuries is a glimpse into the dawn of a brand new paradigm of blockchain infrastructure and regulated stablecoins completely changing institutional channels.
BNY Mellon Targets 24/7 Treasury SettlementBNY Mellon has announced intentions to make it possible for settlement of traditional financial assets, including U.S. Treasury securities, to happen at any time of day.
The bank plans to roll out tokenized Treasury products and get to the pilot level of transactions on its private blockchain by the end of 2026, according to a client letter. The vision is to enable a continuous settlement for both Treasuries and tokenized Treasuries in 2027.
Early steps have been taken with the bank at this stage in direction of that vision. This year, BNY Mellon was instrumental in an after-hours Treasury transaction between BNY Mellon and two stablecoin issuers, to increase market activity outside typical trading hours.
It responds to a rising institutional demand for timely settlement, more liquid markets and a choice of 24/7 settlement opportunities without the limitations of traditional banking systems.

Ripple RLUSD Enters the Institutional SpotlightRipple enthusiastically embraced the announcement, noting the significance of its company-driven stablecoin, RLUSD, in an always-on monetary system.
Jack McDonald, Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Stablecoins, congratulated BNY Mellon and said RLUSD is designed to help support the evolution of continuous Treasury markets and institutional digital asset infrastructure.
The development follows a recent collaboration between Ripple and BNY Mellon, the leading reserve custodian for RLUSD. Their partnership is between Ripple’s regulated stablecoin and one of the world’s largest custody banks that were geared towards institutional investors, and not individual retail investors.
