Follow us on Google NewsBy allowing compromised private keys to be used by one of the Humanity Foundation’s members, humanity protocol is one of those most damaging security breaches in its brief existence.
The exploit has already erased tens of millions of dollars in value, while the project’s native token suffered a dramatic collapse amid aggressive selling pressure.

Humanity Protocol Confirms Private Key BreachHumanity Protocol founder and CEO Terence Kwok revealed that the project had identified the compromise of a Humanity Foundation member’s private keys, one such incident, was reported.
We’ve detected a security incident involving the compromise of private keys belonging to a member of the Humanity Foundation. As a precaution, please do not interact with the bridge or any liquidity pools until we confirm it’s safe.
We’re already working with security experts…

The team advised users to refrain from interacting with the protocol’s bridge and liquidity pools, as a precautionary measure, until further notice.
Humanity Protocol already has external security experts and exchange partners on board to investigate the incident and organise responses, according to the announcement. The team stated that protecting the users is its top priority and remediation is ongoing.
The disclosure came as unusual onchain activity began drawing attention across the crypto security community.
Losses Surge Beyond Initial EstimatesIndependent onchain investigator Specter reported that the attack expanded rapidly after the first suspicious transactions were identified.
Initially, the incident appeared to affect a limited number of wallets and roughly $4 million in losses. However, the situation escalated significantly over the following hours.
Now, the total losses reach over $30 million, there are hundreds of wallets damaged, according to Specter.
Stolen Funds Continue Moving Across the MarketAccording to the investigator, approximately $9 million worth of stolen H tokens has already been swapped into ETH. Another $9.9 million in H tokens remains in attacker-controlled wallets and has yet to be sold.
Further reports indicate that some 100 million H tokens were minted and later dumped for BNB, further squeezing the market. The crime has been tied to several addresses that now have public flags attached in an effort to continue tracking payments from the crime and identifying wallets involved in these transactions.

H Token Suffers Massive Sell-OffThe hawk suite caused a market response and traders came running for some good deals. After being attacked by wallets that are in the hands of attackers, H fell hard, and according to Specter, during the attack the value of the token was reduced by 87%.
The sell-off worsened as worries mounted regarding the proportion of the leak as well as any more breached tokens.
The incident is a stark reminder of another major issue plaguing the crypto sector – private key attacks are still one of the most destructive forms of attack. Smart contract exploits offer only indirect access to critical infrastructure, treasury assets, or special functions whereas a compromised key is able to give immediate access to those.
Currently being investigated and paused for now, Humanity Protocol’s bridge now requires application of security fixes, and collaboration with partners to limit additional ecosystem damage.
