Follow us on Google NewsKraken users get a new yield layer for tokenized stocks (xStocks), which enables them to work with selected xStocks without losing market exposure. The transfer will carry over a well-known model for DeFi lending to tokenized stocks and ETFs.

Kraken Turns xStocks Into Yield-Bearing AssetsThree assets are added to the new vaults: SPYx, which represents the S&P-500; QQQx, which is the Nasdaq-100; and NVDAx, a token-based representation of NVIDIA.
All of these investments are available for direct allocation to eligible users through Kraken or Kraken Pro. Then, vaults put the coins into on-chain lending markets, creating additional rewards for the user without reducing the asset they’re holding.
Kraken says rewards accrue continuously and are paid in-kind. That means a user depositing SPYx receives additional SPYx rather than a separate cryptocurrency or cash reward. The company is promoting yields of up to 2% APY during the initial rollout.

DeFi Lending Comes to Tokenized EquitiesKraken DeFi Earn launched earlier this year and since then, the app products have already seen more than $800 million deposited, according to Kraken.
Veda offers the vault stack, and Sentora is responsible for strategy design and risk management. The deposited xStocks are put to use in on-chain markets like Kamino on Solana.
Users Keep Their xStock ExposureThe design aims to allow users to generate extra returns without just flocking to the liquidation of tokenized equity shares.
Rather, their xStocks are provided to the onchain lending strategies. The yield is then converted back to the xStock and inserted into the vault balance, making earning rewards easy.
Assets are housed in self-custodial wallets and users can track their allocations onchain, Kraken says.
The setup also eliminates a lot of the typical DeFi complexity. For users, there is no need for manual transfer or managing numerous external applications to access the strategy.
Withdrawals Remain Available With Three-Day ProcessingUsers can request withdrawals anytime with Kraken. The time can, however, take up to three days for returned stocks to appear on the user’s Kraken balance.
The yield is not guaranteed as a certain amount of return, either. Strategies are aligned with onchain lending activity and rates may fluctuate.
Will involve market risk, liquidity risk, smart-contract risk and other risks of defi banking and onchain infrastructure.
The ability to trade xStocks Vaults is available to eligible Kraken clients in EEA and other supported markets, with the exception of the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and UAE.
The launch looks set to provide tokenized equity investors with another avenue of exposure to the equity asset class beyond holding or trading tokens.
