Follow us on Google NewsKuCoin has stopped offering crypto services to users in Russia and Belarus, making the restriction effective immediately across its platform. According to the exchange, it applies to all products, services and features, and the affected customers will be notified on how to close their positions and withdraw money.
KuCoin Cuts Off Full Platform Access in Russia and BelarusKuCoin announced the change on the 29th of Oct, stating that it is no longer compliant with the regulations in the two countries and can no longer operate in them. The suspension is quite wide. It does not specifically target certain products, covering access to all trading, account and other platform functions for KuCoin.
Individual notification will be sent out to affected users with information on deadlines and procedures to exit the medium orderly. Those who do not communicate with any notice don’t have to make any immediate steps, but their accounts will still be bound by KuCoin’s existing terms and restrictions.
Since the withdrawal process, KuCoin also cautioned its users of phishing and limited communication to authorized channels.

Users Can Still Withdraw Assets During the Exit ProcessThe priority is that the exchange is not taking any customer funds while they’re being withdrawn, the exchange said. Those users banned under the restriction will have to be able to close their accounts and cancel assets within their designated timelines as stated on the account notification.
However, KuCoin wasn’t providing a single global withdrawal time in its public notification, so impacted users would need to abide by the steps they receive individually.
Compliance Pressure Reshapes Crypto Exchange AccessKuCoin did not state which law or sanctions regime led to this measure. Rather, it has stated that the shutdown is necessary “due to legal and regulatory requirements”.
The move is made at a time when crypto exchanges are increasingly under scrutiny regarding access in sanctioned or heavily regulated countries.
Russia and Belarus still have several international financial restrictions in place, and crypto companies have been flexing their conformance with onboarding, trading, and payment operations, minimizing regulatory exposure.
Those limitations can become a compromise for centralized exchanges if they are going to be used for trading beyond spot trading. They have the potential to also influence heirship, remuneration, derivatives and fiat payment systems and infrastructure.

Russia Builds Its Own Regulated Crypto MarketIt’s a notable timing, as Russia at the same time is making parts of its home digital asset market official.
On 1 September 2026, the Bank of Russia started accepting the registration of crypto exchanges and digital depositories. The approved entities are required to meet transaction, custody and reporting rules and thus fully adhere to the framework by September 2027.
That differentiates Russia, which is formalizing its domestic crypto market, from an international exchange like KuCoin, which is cutting off access from its market altogether.
