Revolut Opens Its Euro Stablecoin to First Customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal

Revolut started a phased rollout of EURR, its first euro-pegged stablecoin, on Wednesday, making it available to a selected group of customers in Denmark, Poland and Portugal. The fintech said wider availability across the European Economic Area will follow later this year, alongside stablecoins tied to other currencies.

Despite the Revolut branding, EURR is legally issued by Bridge Building S.A., a subsidiary of Stripe-owned Bridge, authorized as an electronic money institution and supervised by Luxembourg’s CSSF. Each token is designed to hold a value of €1.00 and is redeemable against the issuer at par. Bridge’s reserve page most recently showed 369 EURR in circulation against €369 in reserve assets, all held as cash deposits at credit institutions, with contracts deployed on Ethereum and Polygon. Revolut Digital Assets Europe Ltd, a MiCA crypto-asset service provider licensed by Cyprus’s CySEC, offers the token to customers.

Revolut’s app has more than 80 million retail customers, which makes EURR a major distribution channel for the the euro stablecoin sector. Euro-pegged tokens account for roughly $740 million of a stablecoin market above $300 billion, with Circle’s EURC leading at about $460 million.

For Revolut, EURR extends a run of expansion: the company won UK Prudential Regulation Authority approval to launch Revolut Bank UK in March, connected its Revolut X exchange to third-party AI assistants in July, and reached a $115 billion valuation in an employee share sale last month.

MiCA is what makes a euro token like this issuable at this scale, and the framework is already up for revision. The European Commission is consulting on reopening MiCA to cover non-EU issuers and tokenized payments, with a revision expected in 2027. Revolut is also among the 36 firms the ECB selected for its digital euro pilot, leaving the company positioned on both the private and public rails for onchain euros.
