Follow us on Google NewsThe Sui Foundation announces the launch of the testnet Hashi, bringing the development of decentralized finance to Bitcoin one step further. With the new infrastructure, developers, custodians, and financial institutions can start to test Bitcoin-backed applications before the protocol enters mainnet.
Built on Sui, Hashi aims to transform Bitcoin from a passive store of value into productive collateral while addressing the security and operational requirements expected by institutional participants.
Hashi Testnet Opens for Institutional Bitcoin DeFiThe launch will allow the developers to gain early access to create lending, borrowing, yield and credit products on the running bitcoins native blockchain. On the opposite side, Hashi always will be designed specifically to enable programmable finance and give extremely solid security for BTC backing.
The Sui Foundation says testnet encompasses SDKs, integration guides, and technical documentation for ecosystem partners to validate applications and workflows prior to going live.
Over 25 partners have already entered the ecosystem ranging from custody service providers, wallets, DeFi protocols, liquidity providers, insurance companies to security auditors.
Wave Digital Assets Expands Its CommitmentWave Digital Assets, a reward platform and institutional asset manager, has gone all the way up and is helping to advance Hashi during its early stage. The firm will expand its tokenized Bitcoin, yield-bearing bond products on Sui for the next three years based on the confidence in the institutional level bitcoin fixed-income market.

Guardian Layer Adds Extra ProtectionAmong Hashi’s most significant features is Guardian Layer, a security feature created for institutional Bitcoin collateral. The system introduces a second level validation of collateral transfers, including validator and guardian approval in a 2-of-2 multisignature mechanism.
This architecture fits into Hashi’s existing framework that already features automated collateral management, verifiable loan terms and transparent on-chain monitoring of collateral health.
Building the Infrastructure for Bitcoin Credit MarketsSpot ETFs, treasury purchases, and clarity in regulatory guidance have all contributed to the recent uptick in institutional interest in Bitcoin. But the vast majority of BTC has been under-utilized due to the scarcity of enabling financial infrastructure capabilities to securely program financial services.

Developers Can Begin Building Before MainnetTo address this, Hashi is working to provide developers and institutions with the necessary resources to build Bitcoin lending, borrowing, settlement, and tokenized asset products.
It has infrastructure, insurance, and security partners along with major names like BitGo, Ledger, Bullish, Cumberland, FalconX, Scallop, Suilend, Navi, and SwissBorg.
With testnet operational, the builders can start to incorporate applications and the institutions can look over workflows before the launch of Hashi’s full mainnet, stirring native Bitcoin finance in the direction of wide scale reception.
