Binance, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has signed a multi-year partnership deal with Portuguese football superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo. According to the press release, the football legend will launch a series of NFT collections jointly with Binance, exclusively on the exchange’s platform.
Users in select countries not disclosed as of press time will be able to purchase them using Binance Pay. The first collection is set to be launched later this year. “Nothing is more important to me than the fans, so the idea of bringing unprecedented experiences and access through this platform is something that I wanted to be a part of. I know the fans are going to enjoy the collection as much as I do,” Ronaldo commented.
Changpeng Zhao ‘CZ’, the Founder and CEO, added. “Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the world’s best footballers, and has transcended sport to become an icon in multiple industries. He has amassed one of the world’s most dedicated fan bases through his authenticity, talent and charity work. We are thrilled to provide his fans with exclusive engagement opportunities to connect with Ronaldo and own a piece of iconic sports history.”
Sports and Music SponsorshipBinance has been active in the sports sponsorship field, signing deals with football teams like the Argentine Football Association or clubs like SS Lazio and FC Porto from Italy and Portugal, respectively.
The exchange is also active in sponsoring other verticals like the music industry. Binance became the official sponsor of The Weeknd’s ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour this month. The music tour becomes the first global concert to use Web 3.0 technology.
The sponsorship was possible as a result of a collaboration with HXOUSE, a think-center and incubator for entrepreneurs that intends to release an exclusive NFT collection for The Weeknd’s tour. “Binance is all about the community, about people, about inclusion. I was impressed by their focus on users and innovative edge. It made perfect sense to work together, and I can’t wait for fans to experience crypto within a creative avenue while supporting a good cause. There are so many possibilities with crypto, and I think this is just the beginning,” The Weeknd commented.
