The crypto exchange Gemini has just launched its European HQ in Ireland. Check out the latest reports about this below.
Crypto exchange Gemini launches HQ in IrelandCrypto exchange Gemini has found a new European headquarters, according to the latest reports. This has happened as regulators in the US remain hostile toward the digital asset industry.
Cameron Winklevoss, who founded the exchange with his twin brother Tyler, announced on Thursday that his company will establish a regional headquarters in Ireland.
“Awesome meeting this morning with Leo Varadkar, the Prime Minister of Ireland. We talked about the profound promise of crypto and the importance of common sense regulation to realize that promise. We believe MiCA is that common sense regulation. We also announced that Gemini has made Ireland its European HQ. Onward!”
MiCA is an abbreviation for Markets in Crypto Assets Regulation, a law in the European Union that aims to establish guidelines for overseeing, safeguarding consumers, and protecting the environment concerning crypto assets.
The law encompasses provisions aimed at curbing various financial offenses, such as market manipulation, money laundering, and terrorist financing.
Gemini expands beyond the US borderIt’s been reported that the American crypto exchange Gemini is expanding its operations overseas as US federal regulators create uncertainty in the industry at home.
The exchange said that they are launching the Gemini Foundation, a non-US crypto derivatives platform that will initially offer customers with a perpetual Bitcoin (BTC) contract denominated in Gemini dollars (GUSD).
The exchange also made sure to say that the platform will launch a GUSD-linked perpetual Ethereum (ETH) contract next amid plans to offer more derivatives products in the coming months.
“Eligible customers will be able to trade both spot and derivatives products and execute all of their trading strategies within a secure and trusted platform.”
