Oman Unveils Official Bitcoin Mining PoolThe Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) of Oman has officially launched its national bitcoin mining pool called Omanhash.om, which will become the official platform for the licensed mining companies in the country.
The project is carried out in collaboration with Frontier Technologies LLC (Frontech), an Omani blockchain and Web3 company. Enegix Global is providing the underlying technology stack and liquidity infrastructure that powers the platform.
Unlike traditional mining pools that compete for participants, Omanhash is designed to function as the primary mining pool for approved operators under the country’s regulatory framework. $700 Million Mining Expansion Gains MomentumOman is one of the major hot spots for Bitcoin mining activity in the Middle East since 2022. It has drawn over $700 million in investments in mining and data centers into the country, including in the Salalah Free Zone.
The projects have rolled out investments to support large-scale plants for high-quality energy-consuming digital infrastructure. Omanhash is the next step in that plan; it brings all of the licensed mining capacity together in one place.
In the first rollout, industry estimates it will use about 10 EH/s in the pool. But if this is true, Omanhash will soon enter the Bitcoin mining fray from the get-go.
Enegix Expands Sovereign Mining FootprintThe deployment in Oman comes after Enegix Global successfully worked and deployed its btcpool.kz mining pool for governmental recognition in Kazakhstan.
Enegix offers approximately 25 EH/s of combined mining pool operations, which includes 21pool.io, btcpool.kz and Omanhash.om, with Omanhash being just online now. The company is focused on building out its infrastructure network and global partnerships to achieve 30 EH/s.
According to the executives at Enegix, the introduction in Oman was another sign that governments are more and more considering Bitcoin mining a strategic sector of digital infrastructure instead of being a mere industry.
