The PS5 Pro is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Zen 2 8-core/16-thread processor, complemented by an RDNA-based graphics engine delivering 16.7 teraflops (TF) of GPU performance. This is a big jump up from the base PS5’s 10.23 TF, and should result in smoother gameplay and more detailed visuals.
In addition to the 16GB of GDDR6 memory, the console includes 2GB of DDR5 memory dedicated to non-gaming tasks, ensuring efficient system operations. Storage capacity has been doubled to a 2TB custom SSD, accommodating larger game files and reducing load times. However, these enhancements come with an increased maximum power draw of 390W, up from the 340W of the standard PS5 Digital Edition.

Game Enhancements: An Epic Launch LineupSony has confirmed that 55 games will feature PS5 Pro enhancements at launch. This roster includes anticipated titles such as “Call of Duty: Black Ops 6” and “Star Wars: Outlaws,” alongside previously announced games like “Final Fantasy VII Rebirth” and “Gran Turismo 7.”
These enhancements are expected to utilize the PS5 Pro’s advanced hardware to deliver higher frame rates, improved ray tracing, and enhanced graphical fidelity, providing a more immersive gaming experience. You read the full list of games here.
Balancing Performance and PricePriced at $699.99, the PS5 Pro positions itself as a premium option for gamers seeking top-tier performance. While the price point reflects the advanced hardware and expanded storage, it also raises questions about value, especially considering the base PS5’s capabilities. The inclusion of a 2TB SSD and significant GPU upgrade may justify the cost for enthusiasts, but casual gamers might find the standard PS5 sufficient for their needs.
Backward Compatibility and Game BoostThe PS5 Pro maintains backward compatibility with PS4 games, with many titles benefiting from the new Game Boost feature. This function enhances performance and image quality for a substantial number of PS4 and PS5 games, potentially improving the experience for over 8,500 PS4 titles.
Design and ConnectivityVisually, the PS5 Pro retains the distinctive design of its predecessors, with subtle refinements. It features Wi-Fi 7 support, ensuring faster and more stable online connectivity, which is crucial for multiplayer gaming and streaming services.
The PlayStation 5 Pro represents a significant step forward in console gaming, offering enhanced performance and a robust lineup of optimized games. Its advanced hardware specifications and expanded storage cater to gamers seeking the best possible experience. But, it’s pricy.
