This transformation, unveiled on March 18 at the Blockworks Digital Asset Summit in New York, marks a significant shift from the platform’s original focus, aligning it with the burgeoning intersection of decentralized finance and traditional banking.
A New Direction: Embracing Web3 BankingThe rebranding to Vaulta reflects a comprehensive strategy to integrate blockchain technology with conventional financial systems. Yves La Rose, founder and CEO of the Vaulta Foundation, emphasized that this change is “more than just a name change; it’s a decisive step forward in our mission to deliver open, accessible financial access for everyone.” He says that Vaulta is the culmination of years of planning and development, aiming to create a secure, scalable, and inclusive financial ecosystem.
Establishing the Vaulta Banking Advisory Council
To assist in bridging the gap between traditional finance and decentralized systems, Vaulta has introduced the Vaulta Banking Advisory Council. This council comprises experts from both financial and blockchain sectors, including executives from Systemic Trust, Tetra, and ATB Financial. Alexander Nelson, senior director of digital finance at ATB Financial, says that Vaulta’s strategic realignment toward Web3 banking is a significant development for the industry, opening doors for traditional funds to enter decentralized finance through Bitcoin and paving the way for greater institutional acceptance.
Technical Continuity and Future IntegrationsVaulta plans to maintain the robust technical infrastructure established under the EOS Network, including its smart contract architecture, decentralized database, and inter-blockchain connectivity. In line with its Web3 banking initiative, Vaulta will integrate with exSat, a Bitcoin-focused digital banking solution, reinforcing Bitcoin’s role as the foundation of its decentralized financial ecosystem.
EOS and Vaulta Token Swap and Strategic PartnershipsImportantly for EOS holders, a token swap is provisionally scheduled for the end of May 2025, facilitating the transition from EOS to Vaulta tokens. Additionally, Vaulta has announced strategic partnerships with entities such as Ceffu, Spirit Blockchain, and Blockchain Insurance Inc., aiming to expand its Web3 banking ecosystem.
