Crypto.com‘s futures exchange became a registered national securities exchange for security futures products the moment it filed for the status on Sept. 14, under a provision that lets a Commodity Futures Trading Commission market join the Securities and Exchange Commission‘s rolls without a vote.
North American Derivatives Exchange, the Crypto.com futures exchange known as Nadex, filed a Form 1-N that day, and the SEC acknowledged receiving it in a release dated Sept. 16. Kris Marszalek, Crypto.com’s CEO, said in a post on Wednesday evening that the form covered his company’s futures exchange through OG.com, the trader-focused venue Crypto.com is spinning off, and that “we are now authorized to bring single-stock futures to the market.”
The Futures Side Was Already BuiltNadex has been a CFTC-designated contract market since 2004, when it was designated as HedgeStreet, according to the commission’s registry, which says the exchange also does business under the Crypto.com name after Foris DAX Markets acquired it in March 2022. The CFTC amended that order in September 2025 to let the exchange offer margined futures cleared on an intermediated basis by registered futures commission merchants, which covers margin and clearing on the futures side.
What the SEC Notice AddsSection 6(g) of the Securities Exchange Act lets an exchange whose products include security futures register “solely for the purposes of trading security futures products” by filing a written notice. The exchange must be a board of trade under the Commodity Exchange Act holding an unsuspended contract-market designation, and it can list no other securities beyond those futures products and certain CEA-authorized futures on exempted securities and stock indexes.
That registration, the release says, “becomes effective contemporaneously with the submission of the written notice on Form 1-N.” The SEC’s document acknowledges receipt, and staff in its Division of Trading and Markets check whether the notice is complete and in proper form. The release names no product. It refers only to security futures products, the statutory category, and single-stock futures is Marszalek’s description of what the venue will list.
Nothing in it mentions perpetual futures, which Marszalek said in the post Crypto.com is “working with the SEC and the CFTC to offer” in the US. He named no launch date, no stocks and no leverage limits. Coinbase Derivatives filed its own Form 1-N on Sept. 1, which the SEC acknowledged on Sept. 8, a step toward listing perpetual futures on individual stocks that also requires CFTC sign-off.
Robinhood began routing football event contracts to OG.com this month and agreed to take equity stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com both once the spin-off completes.
