The billionaire entrepreneur will reportedly refocus on running his multiple businesses.
Just last month, White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields alleged that Musk would stay until his “mission” at DOGE was “completed.”
A February Politico report cited an anonymous insider who claimed that the controversial tech billionaire was “here to stay” despite widespread public scrutiny.

As a special government employee, Musk is only allowed to work 130 days out of 365, with the South African-born engineer expected to reach that limit either next month or June.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took to X Wednesday to deny the claims, calling the scoop “garbage.”
“Elon Musk and President Trump have both *publicly* stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete,” she wrote.
However, a senior White House official confirmed to NBC News Wednesday afternoon that Trump had discussed Musk’s departure at a March 24 Cabinet meeting.
While the status of Elon Musk’s government position remains unclear, his involvement with the Trump administration has already created consequences for his businesses.
X CEO Faces Backlash Over DOGE Policies, Tesla AttackedMusk has faced broad pushback commercially for his role alongside the Trump administration, with several Tesla charging stations, vehicles, and dealerships attacked in recent months.
During a Wisconsin town hall on Sunday, Elon Musk addressed how his political involvement has affected his businesses.
He also clarified that despite the acronym’s similarity to the cryptocurrency, the federal government does not plan to use Dogecoin.
“My Tesla stock, and the stock of everyone who owns Tesla, has roughly halved,” he said at the event hosted by his crypto-friendly America PAC. “I mean, it’s a big deal.”
