It has been revealed that an ex-PayPal president said that Bitcoin is the only neutral Internet money that we will ever have. Check out more details about his interesting affirmations below.
Bitcoin and the InternetDavid Marcus, the former president of PayPal and ex-vice president of Facebook, recently spoke about Bitcoin (BTC) in an episode of the What Bitcoin Did podcast.
Marcus believes that Bitcoin is unique compared to other cryptocurrencies. He also mentioned that he has an unshakable conviction that Bitcoin is the only form of neutral internet money that will ever exist.
According to Marcus, Bitcoin has a lot of regulatory clarity, and it is widely accepted by regulated financial institutions.
For instance, Fidelity Investments has a Bitcoin-denominated 401k, and there are many spot Bitcoin ETFs awaiting approval.
Banks outside the US can also touch Bitcoin and want to embrace its capabilities. Marcus believes that Bitcoin will continue to gain acceptance and eventual approval.
According to Marcus, Bitcoin is likely to survive as it has passed the point where it was in danger of disappearing.
He also added that although there are still some threats, he believes that Bitcoin is much better equipped to resist such challenges compared to other digital assets. At the time of writing, the value of BTC is $26,781.
Bitcoin miners in the newsIn other recent news, Chinese-operated bitcoin mines in the United States have raised concerns about national security, according to a report by The New York Times.
One such operation is located in close proximity to a Microsoft data center that supports the Pentagon and is also near an Air Force nuclear missile base in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
The Microsoft team had previously warned a U.S. government committee that these locations could enable the Chinese to conduct “full-spectrum intelligence collection operations.”
