Freedom Factory just shipped PQ1, a hardware wallet the company calls the first built to survive attacks from quantum computers on Ethereum and every other EVM chain.
Markus Haas, CEO of Freedom Factory, joined Laura to talk about how PQ1 works, why Bitcoin was left out of the design, and how the company went from building ethOS, an Ethereum mobile operating system, to shipping its own hardware.
The conversation covers why PQ1 chose hash-based post-quantum algorithms over Lattice and Freedom Factory’s avant-garde approach to open source, as Haas says users can not only verify the code themselves but also build the entire hardware wallet from scratch if they desire.
